Responsibilities

We are seeking an Engineer I to join our Water Conveyance Team. This entry-level role offers the opportunity to collaborate with experienced professionals in planning, designing, and analyzing water and wastewater transmission systems, including pump stations and pipelines. The selected candidate will contribute to innovative solutions that enhance North Texas infrastructure while gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic and supportive team environment.

 

  • Perform entry-level engineering tasks under the supervision of experienced engineers, applying standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to a variety of routine assignments related to water and wastewater conveyance systems.
  • Assist in conducting preliminary engineering evaluations, studies, and analyses to identify design improvement alternatives. You will compare various design options, evaluate their feasibility, and contribute to the development of design recommendations.
  • Support the preparation and analysis of reports, maps, drawings, aerial photographs, and survey data to plan and develop construction documents for water conveyance systems. This includes conducting site visits to gather field data and ensuring all relevant information is integrated into project planning.
  • Collaborate in the preparation of design plans by assisting with drafting and layout using tools such as AutoCAD and ArcGIS.
  • Participate in the creation of construction documents, including portions of routine projects, under the guidance of a professional engineer. You will assist in drafting, preparing, and reviewing construction and design documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist in preparing accurate quantity estimates and contribute to various project planning activities.
  • Prepare layouts for construction, topographic, and boundary surveys, ensuring the designs are aligned with project requirements and local regulations.
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of all assigned tasks by adhering to established Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) guidelines throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Contribute to quality control efforts by reviewing reports, studies, maps, AutoCAD files, and other preliminary design documents.
  •  Assist in the preparation, review, and editing of technical reports, ensuring they accurately reflect design choices, analyses, and project progress.
  • Perform route studies to assess the best path for infrastructure development, analyzing potential environmental, logistical, and regulatory considerations.
  • Conduct research to obtain necessary data, such as as-built drawings, property information, and topographic data.
  • Daily usage of Civil3D, Bluebeam, and Microsoft 365 Products. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited four-year college or university.
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam within six months of start date.
  • 0–1 years of experience in the field or related area, including internships or coursework projects.
  • Interest in or understanding of public water and wastewater systems, surveying principles, and fundamental engineering concepts.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in technical writing.
  • Valid driver’s license
