Responsibilities

Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Municipal Engineer IV (Project Engineer) with a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our organization, the Municipal Engineer IV will play a crucial role in leading and managing complex civil engineering projects within municipal settings. The successful candidate will bring a wealth of expertise in municipal engineering, a proven track record of successful project delivery, and a commitment to excellence.

 

  • Assist in the planning, design, and execution of municipal engineering projects, ensuring compliance with local regulations and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to establish project plans, including identification of staffing requirements and preparation of detailed project schedules.
  • Perform project designs, managing resources within the constraints of project budgets and schedules.
  • Serve as a project engineer, providing technical expertise and guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Independently coordinates the work of engineers-in-training, designers/draft persons, and sub-consultants, fostering a collaborative environment to achieve project goals.
  • Represent LAN with professionalism and expertise before clients.
  • Contribute to marketing efforts, showcasing LAN's capabilities in municipal engineering.
  • Assist in the development of contractual agreements and play a pivotal role in the implementation of design solutions that meet client expectations and municipal standards.
  • Assist in the management of the financial aspects of assigned engineering projects, coordinating and adjusting the work effort within the project team to ensure on-schedule and within-budget project completion.
  • Simultaneously being involved with various projects and clients, demonstrating time management and effective quality work.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Civil 3D and/or MicroStation for precise and efficient project design and drafting.
  • Apply advanced engineering principles to solve complex problems and stay abreast of emerging technologies and regulatory changes affecting municipal engineering.
  • Take a leadership role in project team quality system tasks, ensuring adherence to defined Quality Assurance / Quality Control guidelines.
  • Visit construction sites to monitor progress, address challenges, and ensure compliance with contract documents.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • 4+ years’ experience in municipal engineering or a related field.
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Proven understanding of project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple municipal engineering projects simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills for effective team coordination and client interactions.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and other relevant engineering software, is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
