    Responsibilities

    Assist the Transportation Manager in extending leadership, direction, and training. Provide project management oversight and apply engineering expertise in the daily operations of preparing Plans, Specification & Estimate (PS&E), preliminary engineering reports (PER), preliminary & geometric schematics, and traffic engineering related studies for various roadway projects. Responsibilities also include maintaining client relationships, maintaining quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC), and closely monitoring project costs. Assist with the strategic growth of the Transportation Design Team and provide mentoring and career guidance to design team members.

    • Independently coordinate the work of engineers, designers/draft persons and sub-consultants throughout the project’s execution.
    • Establish and maintain client relations.
    • Attends client meetings - days or nights.
    • Be involved with marketing, contractual development, and design implementation.
    • Assist with managing the financial aspects of assigned engineering projects; coordinating and adjusting the work effort within the project team to ensure project work is completed on schedule and within allocated budget.
    • Simultaneously manage multiple projects and clients.
    • Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
    • Responsible for project team quality system tasks as defined in the Quality Assurance / Quality Control guidelines.
    • Visit construction site to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documents.

     

    Qualifications

    Education

    • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
    • 5+ years licensed as a Professional Engineer in Texas
    • 8+ years experience in preparation of Plans, Specification & Estimates (PS&E) for TxDOT rural and urban roadway projects and development of preliminary and geometric roadway schematics. 
    • Working experience with MS Office products, Microstation and Geopak.
    • Open Roads 3D experience a plus. 
    • TxDOT pre-certifications preferred. 
    • Experience with Primavera considered a plus.
    • Valid driver’s license
