This is a position for professional work in the design of rural and urban roadways and highways. This individual will perform roadway design on TxDOT highway projects under the supervision of a Project Manager and guidance of an experienced design team. The work typically involves basic CADD work using Microstation and Geopak to perform design assignments such as establishing horizontal and vertical alignments, detailing and quantity takeoffs for project features. These features usually include pavement, earthwork, traffic control, signing and pavement marking, structures and other miscellaneous type improvements. Close supervision is typically required and frequent mentoring is provided to develop strong engineering judgment and skills. The ability to work within a team is paramount.
BS in Civil Engineering required
EIT required or ability to obtain EIT status within 1 year
Experience with using CADD required. Using Microstation, Geopak & Open Roads is a plus
General computer literacy using MS Office products required
Previous experience/internships in TxDOT highway design is a plus
Must be self-motivated to complete tasks and learn design skills
Strong verbal and written skills required
